java.lang.NullPointer exception

Post by linuxbaby03 on Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:53 pm

When I open the app on my 2014 moto x I get the following exception:

Trying SDK - 21 ---- getPhone error -java.lang.NullPointer exception: Attempt to income virtual method 'java.lang.String.com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix.phone.enumPhones.name()' on a null object reference

I am running android 5.0 rooted but not otherwise modded. Also note that the TTS to speaker override does not work. Just installed the app earlier today, so I should have this ability according to your splash screen. Will try installing latest beta.

Exception not present in beta, however I can't get the TTS to work either. When I change to the SoundAbout TTS in the settings, there is no change.

What are you using to test the SoundAbout TTS? IF you are trying to use Google Maps, it appears it no longer will use third party TTS engines.

Using a moto x2, trying it with the ok Google interface as well as the TTS selection engine sample

Have you selected SoundAbout TTS as the TTS engine and then clicked on "Listen to example"?

If you have one. Send me a private message with your email, and I can email back so that you can send me the logcat. When you try the example nothing happens at all? Usually it says "thank you for using soundabout".

Well because I have superior luck, as I was recording the logcat, the blasted thing worked fine. One thing of note however, is that the OK Google interface doesn't seem to fall under the TTS category

Even more interesting is that it isn't under the voice search category either

For OK Google: If you are using the new Beta, there is a new SoundAbout Activity called "SoundAbout Voice Search". It will look to see if you are using Bluetooth phone (like in a car), connect and allow you to do the voice search via Bluetooth. It will also respond via Bluetooth. You can set the timing and the audio output in the SoundAbout app, under the "Voice Search behavior" settings. You can change the default voice search app from Google Now to something else (it may not work well, depending on the app).
