Changing the SoundAbout Service settings

Post by SoundAbout on Wed May 28, 2014 7:50 pm

In the current PROD version you have:

ON - Foreground - This makes SoundAbout Service run in the foreground so that Android will not kill the service. In Android 4.3 and above, when a service runs in the foreground, Android now forces a notification in the status bar. The new Beta gets around this issue.

ON - Auto Restart - The SoundAbout Service can be killed by Android, but will restart automatically. This avoids having the SoundAbout notification in the status bar (if you don't want it).

ON - Stoppable - The SoundAbout Service can be killed by Android and will not restart automatically. You would probably not want this and would only be used by people in rare occasions.

The Beta version has different settings so that the service can stay in the foreground with a notification in the status bar.

In the new Beta:

ON - With Status - This makes SoundAbout Service run in the foreground so that Android will not kill the service. A notification will display in the status bar.

ON - No Status - This makes SoundAbout Service run in the foreground so that Android will not kill the service. A notification with NOT display in the status bar.

OFF - The SoundAbout Service will be shut down. This allows people to run the phone without SoundAbout changing the audio so they can test how the phone works without SoundAbout.
